● UV trolley sterilizer:

UV trolley sterilizers are an excellent solution for large dental clinics. These trolley carts are movable and can be taken to any room that needs to be sterilized.

They work on the same principle as a UV disinfection lamp. However, the trolley lamps are usually larger. Also, they allow them to illuminate the entire room.

UV trolley sterilizers should be used when no one is inside the room. Once they have finished their sterilization cycle, they can be taken to the next room or stored in a safe place out of the way.

UV-C is a specialized type of light with higher energy and frequency than regular visible light. This is caused by its short wavelength that ranges between 100-280 nm.

This frequency is potent enough to interfere with bacteria’s proteins. Therefore, permanently damaging their DNA and RNA structures. This prevents their ability to reproduce and multiply within the host. As a result, they become unable to colonize a new host and eventually die.

These lightbulbs have an extensive lifespan and don’t heat while they are on. This makes them highly practical and beneficial. 

However, one of the biggest downsides of UV sterilizer systems is that they only affect the areas that the light reaches. As a result, any surface that is not exposed and in direct contact with the ray of light won’t be sterilized.

Nonetheless, this issue can be solved using devices with multiple lightbulbs in different places and angles. This way, they can cover every surface of the instrument simultaneously. 

However, the practitioner must be careful when placing the instruments inside the machine. Wrongly placing them or overfilling the machine with instruments can cause them to cast shadows that block the light.
